It’s Going to Be a Ruff Winter…Warm Your Paws at the Glacier Ice Bar & Lounge at The Samoset Resort in Rockland, Maine

Rockport, Maine (December 2018) -- Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? This January, The Samoset Resort’s 7th annual Glacier Ice Bar & Lounge will see the transformation of over 20,000 pounds of crystal-clear glacier ice into one of the “hottest and coolest lounges” on the Maine coast, and this year, it’s gone to the dogs!

The 2019 Ice Bar theme will honor man’s best friend with several breeds of four-legged, furry, canine companions on grand display.  Adding to the excitement, a contest is open to the public to submit a photo of your pup and one lucky winner will receive a free weekend stay over a choice of the Ice Bar dates and a likeness of their dog will be carved by Executive Chef Tim Pierce into a block of ice! To enter go to http://www.samosetresort.com/ruffwinter before the deadline of January 11, 2018.

Inspired in part by longtime Glacier Ice Bar sponsor, Tito’s Vodka, whose popular “Vodka for Dog People” charitable program works to unite Tito’s friends, fans, and partners to better the lives of pets and their families far and wide. To that end, The Glacier Ice Bar & Lounge will donate all of the proceeds from a warm mocktail called The Saint Bernard to the local Pope Memorial Humane Society in Thomaston, Maine.  This warm apple cider drink is served with hints of orange and cinnamon and topped with an apple crumble.  The Samoset will also match the dollar amount raised for the humane society.

After sipping cocktails at the Glacier Ice Bar, warm up with hors d’oeuvres at Enoteca Wine Bar or dinner and live entertainment at La Bella Vita before retiring to your cozy Maine lodging (ask about the Maine Resident Rates!) The exquisite ice carvings and sub-zero temperatures make this swanky lounge a can’t-miss experience during your Maine vacation or a quick stay-cation for locals looking for something off the slopes.

The Glacier Ice Bar & Lounge serves a variety of festive winter, handcrafted cocktails.  Guests can indulge in a Snowball Martini: Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Vanilla Liqueur, White Cream De Cacao and a toasted marshmallow garnish or Old Man Winter: Tito's Handmade Vodka, Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice, Agave Nectar, Splash of Sparkling Soda. Guests can also fire up their taste buds with New England Clam Chowder, Grilled Honey Bourbon Glazed Wings, or Pot & Kettle Winter Chili and more! The bar will also feature live music at night.

The Ice Bar is open to the public and are weather permitting, so guests are encouraged to get there before they are reduced to only a puddle!

Glacier Ice Bar & Lounges are sponsored by Tito's Handmade Vodka, Shipyard and Ripe Bar Juice.
